Friso Kramer was educated as an industrial and furniture designer. The work of Friso Kramer plays a significant role in the development of the national style from the 1940s until today. He was part of the Ògoed wonenÓ foundation (see Cees Braakman). While he was a part of this foundation Kramer created a series of moulded plywood and steel chairs, obviously inspired by the work of Eames, for the company De Cirkel. Throughout the 1950s Kramer taught at the Hague Academy of Visual Arts. He helped to establish the Total Design group in 1963, the group took on a number of commissions to develop and execute ideas on design in all fields. Kramer left the group in 1967. From the early seventies Kramer worked on the popular MEHES office furniture for the Ahrend group obviously inspired on the ideas and design of the Action Office series for Herman Miller. Up untill today this MEHES serie is used in large office buildings in the Netherlands.
